I write, and I write, and I write. I write conference, workshop material, books, marketing copy, and blogs. Yes, I write. Writing my memoir is a process. It is a process of walking through my life, and at the same time looking at the past, and keeping the past the past. This morning at 9 a.m. I changed my focus for my memoir one more time. I shall be 60 soon, and I have years of life behind me. This morning I am settling on my focus. I will be writing with transparency the ups and downs from when God called me to lead, years ago, to today. My first book was, "A Hurting Heart Turned Inside Out." This story will be told by looking on the inside at myself, and sharing with my readers. It is time. It is a time for honesty and for transparency. Selah (Pause) Continuing on. I hope you stay on journey with me, as I write and share what is going on with me. AND maybe by telling my story, you will no longer feel as if you are living on an island as a woman who leads. ~Nancy~ Founder and Leader of Relationships of the Heart Today as I began my Monday the topic of leadership style was running through my thoughts. I began to examine my leadership style and realized my style is not, "you must submit to me and honor me I am the leader!" Instead my style is, when there is a problem, "Hey lets sit down and have a chat and work through this issue." My heart's desire as a leader is for people to submit from the heart, not because I am pointing a finger and saying, "You must submit to me because I AM the leader and THEN God will honor and bless you!" As leaders we are to equip and train God's people for works of service. As leaders we are to communicate with adults as adults and not as young children. an image leader will say, "Well if they acted like an adult I would treat them like an adult!" I believe if we talk to adults as adults and expect a higher standard, then we will begin to see this in people we lead and they will begin to grow in Christian maturity. I really never want someone to submit to me, because of my position. Stickin thinking says; "If you cannot submit to a leader, submit to the position." This is missing the mark in the area of our heart. God looks at the heart of all people, including the heart of a leader. We are not exempt from living a life of pride and it can easily grow in our heart, when we live from a well of self importance as a leader. Pride has no place in the life of a leader, for it will easily damage those we lead. In fact it is in the list of actions God hates. My prayer; "Lord, as leaders please helps us to live lives free from pride and to hate what you hate and love those who you call us to lead. Help us to lead our people with the heart of Jesus and lead with a heart to lift people up to become all you call them to be." A word for Godly leaders; 1 Peter 5:1-4; (1)To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: (2) Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; (3) not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. (4)And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. Reprint- March 23, 2014, With Nancy Watta, Live as If...
